Microsoft to hold massive hardware event in New York
Earlier this month, Microsoft sent invites for its latest press conference that is to be held on the 2nd May 2017. Invitations to the event have been sent with the tagline ‘Learn what’s next’, generating rumours and excitement of possible new launches from Microsoft in 2017…
But what can we expect?
With the recent farewell to Windows Vista’s support, we’re expecting Microsoft to go all out at this event. Microsoft always like to keep us guessing with what they have planned at their major events, but The Verge have already stated the event is unlikely to unveil the Surface Pro 5 or new Surface Phone. However, rumours are flying around that a new and improved hardware will be revealed.
It has been suggested that they will unveil their low cost Windows 10 Cloud operating system as a competitor for Google’s Chromebook. However, we are yet to have a clear understanding of whether the Windows 10 Cloud operating system will run exclusively on devices with ARM-based processors or on computers with Intel or AMD chips. Hopefully this event will reveal all.
Another hint that Microsoft will unveil the Windows 10 Cloud operating system is their use of the hashtag #MicrosoftEDU within the invitations. This suggests that this launch event will be education-focused and their new operating system will be targeted heavily towards learning facilities.
With businesses already turning to the cloud, we can only guess what Microsoft have up their sleeve for the future. I guess we will just have to wait for the launch event…
Save the date: This Microsoft event will take place at 9:30 a.m. ET on May 2, 2017.
